Area and Course Guide

Central Area

The main area of GALA Yuzawa Ski Resort spreads out around Gondola Lift summit station and the rest house "Cheers." There are many well-groomed trails that are perfect for everyone from beginners to advanced skiers.

Central Area Trails

Central Area

GALA's most popular central area has five diverse courses, including a gentle run for beginners, a wide medium-slope course, and GALA's highest, steepest course.

Melody Beginner Course

[350m]

The slope and length are perfect for beginners, allowing you to concentrate on your practice. If you get off Chairlift and go straight, you will join the so-called "Uramero" at the bottom of Edelweiss. It is a gentle slope, so it is recommended for first-time skiers.

Edelweiss Beginner Course

[1,600m]

This tree-lined course is recommended for those who want to ski at a leisurely pace. It's a popular course for families. There's a detour through the central area. The lower part of the GALA offers a wide, gentle slope, perfect for practice.
*Please be careful as there are U-shaped curves and narrow sections along the way.

Entertainment
Beginner and Intermediate Courses

[920m]

A long, flat, medium slope. This is the most popular course in the central area. The course is wide and open, with few changes in slope, making it suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers.

Gigi Intermediate Course

[1,000m]

A single run where you can enjoy comfortable high-speed turns. Along with Entertainment this run is very popular among intermediate and advanced skiers. As you go down, the run gets wider, allowing you to enjoy smooth, large turns.

Grenoble
Intermediate and Advanced Courses

[750m]

This steep course continues from the summit, the highest point in GALA, where you can enjoy high-quality snow. You can enjoy the thrill of skiing down the mountain in one go, and in spring it is a famous mogul spot. The starting point has a wonderful view and is a popular photo spot.

North Area

There are many wide runs, including "Swan" and "Roman Holiday" for beginners, and "Broadway" which is perfect for intermediate skiers to practice on. There is also Snow Park and off-piste (rough terrain) runs for advanced skiers.

North Area Trails

North Area

The northern area offers a wide range of riding styles, including six courses suitable for beginners to advanced riders, as well as off-piste terrain and mogul slopes.
This is the entry point for the "Falcon "Down Hill Trail, which offers a 2.5km long run, and the "Roman Holiday" course, which connects to the Ishiuchi Maruyama Ski Resort.

Swan Beginner Course

[1,050m]

This is a detour course off of Broadway. The entrance is narrow, but the slope is gentle, so even beginners can Access the north area. Another great thing about this course is that you can enjoy the natural terrain on the side. Please enjoy the terrain in a freestyle manner.

Super Swan Advanced Course

[160m]

After heavy snowfall, this off-piste (ungroomed) course offers powder snow. It's also a signature course at Gala where you can enjoy natural moguls. At 33°, it's the steepest expert-level course at Gala.

Broadway Intermediate Course

[700m]

This beautifully groomed single run is perfect for practicing high-speed turns. Broadway is a relatively empty course compared to the central area, so if you want to ski at your own pace and comfortably, we recommend it.

Super Broadway
Intermediate course

[450m]

A vast slope with a moderate gradient, offering a course with more volume than even Super Swan. Powder runs after heavy snowfall are fantastic. It's a relatively uncrowded, hidden gem of a course. *May be used for pole lessons.

Joanna Intermediate Course

[250m]

To the right of Chairlift" Chariot" is the course for Ski School lessons. To the left is a short course, but it is a perfect slope for basic training. If you go to the other side of Chairlift summit, you will reach the starting point of Down Hill Trail.

Roman Holiday
Beginner course

[500m]

A relatively empty course. Recommended for beginners who want to ski at their own pace. The slope is also perfect for practicing jib tricks! At the bottom, it joins up with the "Practice Dojo" area Snow Park is equipped with kickers and jib items for beginners.

Down Hill Trail Falcon

2.5km Downhill Course This exhilarating 2.5km downhill course takes you straight down from the North Area to Ski Center " Cowabunga". The highlight of this course is undoubtedly the panoramic view of the snow-covered mountains of Minamiuonuma, stretching from the Tanigawa mountain range. Be sure to enjoy a refreshing long cruise while taking in the spectacular scenery.

At "Snow Enjoyment Park," which has a hooded snow escalator, you can enjoy sledding comfortably even on snowy days. In addition, there are observation decks with excellent views in the central and northern areas, where you can take commemorative photos with the magnificent view of Yuzawa Town in the background.
